Ronda Rousey Ducks Cris Cyborg But Claims Dominance Over Floyd Mayweather, Cain Velasquez and Two Big Guys In A Movie Theater
Knowledgeable UFC fans want to see Ronda Rousey fight Cris Cyborg at 145 lbs., the natural weight class for both women.
However Dana White and Ronda Rousey want nothing to do with Cris Cyborg because they fear Cyborg will defeat Rousey and thereby derail the Ronda Rousey gravy train.
Instead, White and Rousey use the magician’s trick of misdirection to take the focus off Rousey’s running from Cyborg and place it on Ronda’s fearless braggadocio about how she could beat up boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and how she did “beat up” two large men in a movie theater.
The implication being sold is how can anyone believe Rousey is ducking Cyborg if Ronda beat up two large men at the movies and emphatically boasts she would beat Mayweather and Velasquez in the cage or in a street fight?
It’s public relations slight of hand. Don’t look over there at Cris Cyborg, look here…as Ronda beats up men including two world champions!
Of course Ronda’s claims are complete rubbish. In a real cage or street fight Cain and Floyd would destroy Ronda in seconds.
However Ronda and Dana know such a scenario will never occur because a real man skilled in cage or street combat will never agree to such a fight against a woman.
It’s why the two large men in the movie theater never fought Ronda.
The “Rousey Beats Up Two Large Men In Movie Theater Fight” has taken on epic proportions. It’s now folklore. However it’s not true.
Even Ronda’s original comments about the incident published on her blog Jan 1, 2008 do not support the claim she beat up two large men. Here are her words re-posted from her blog to Sherdog .
Ronda started it all by ripping off a girl’s shoe and tossing it across the theater. Ronda thought the girl and some of her friends had been too boisterous during the movie.
The “two large men” never attempted to strike Rousey. They only stood between Ronda and the girl who lost her shoe. While that girl and Ronda were slapping at each other, the two men tried to separate them and asked Ronda to retrieve the shoe. She refused so the men tried to block her from escaping until security or the police arrived.
Ronda did say one of the men grabbed her from behind but he had a very different version about that. In any event, in Ronda’s original telling of this story, other than striking out at one man as she ran, she never really claimed to beat up two men. She did not fight them. She only squeezed between them and ran from the theater after her friend pushed the shoeless girl out of the way.
That was Rousey’s original description of the incident when it was fresh in her mind on Jan 1, 2008. All the embellishments added by Rousey during interviews since then are exaggerations. Just more hyperbole for the Ronda Rousey PR campaign.
We know Ronda initiated the absurd boast about beating up Cain Velasquez but UFC President Dana White said Joe Rogan started the Floyd Mayweather bloviation. Well, Rogan works for the UFC and White doubled down on the tripe in this video. Also notice while Rousey praises Floyd’s boxing skills she doesn’t deny she would beat him up in the cage.
Dana’s boasts about Rousey beating up and hurting Floyd Mayweather are laughably absurd. I like Dana White but one of his jobs is to be a carnival barker for the UFC as he attempts to protect his golden girl Ronda Rousey from Cris Cyborg. That’s all he was doing in the above video.
I’m waiting for the reporter or fan who has the courage to ask the obvious question. “Ronda, you beat up two large men at the movies, you can beat up Floyd Mayweather and Cain Velasquez…why won’t you fight Cris Cyborg at 145 lbs?”
Here’s Ronda Rousey sparring with Gegard Mousasi. She’s going 100%, he’s barely trying. Imagine Cain Velasquez going 100% against Rousey in a real fight? Good grief, how do MMA fans and reporters swallow her gibberish?
I think Ronda Rousey is a very skilled MMA fighter. I’ve written before that I think she would be competitive against Cris Cyborg at 145 pounds, at least in the early part of the fight. However I believe Cris would eventually overwhelm Ronda and knock her out.
As more MMA fans and reporters start to see through Ronda’s and Dana’s misdirection and malarkey the demand for a super fight (no belt on the line) with Cris Cyborg at 145 lbs. will become inevitable.
“Knowledgeable UFC fans want to see Ronda Rousey fight Cris Cyborg at 145 lbs., the natural weight class for both women.”
You failed right from the start so there was no reason to read any further.
Knowledgeable mma fans (not UFC..Cyborg isn’t in the UFC) know Cyborg cuts down from a ripped 175 lbs to fight in the 145 lb division. Educated mma fans also know Ronda cuts down from 147 lbs to fight in the 135 lb division.
Explain to me how two fighters separated by roughly 30 lbs are naturally in the same weight class?
LOL. First this nimrod admits he didn’t read my article then he asked me a question that is already thoroughly answered in several articles on my website.
Good grief, he wants us to believe that Ronda Rousey’s walking around weight is 147 lbs!!!??? Anyone can read these articles to learn Rousey is a natural 145 lb MMA fighter successfully masquerading as a 135 lb fighter.
Read the facts, learn the truth:

Great read. People have a complex when it comes to Rousey. It’s like they must defend her at all cost. If you make any negative claims about her career you are a “hater”
It’s crazy how people believe she can beat men but tucked tail and ran for safer fights in 2011 instead of fighting Cyborg. If Cyborg does well at 135 I believe Ronda will retire early. She started the wheels rolling on what could be her final act of ducking with the 2 year deadline crap. Ronda doesn’t want to fight Cyborg and the ufc doesn’t want to chance hurting her drawing power. She could very well hit 1 million ppv buys with the spectacle they are calling a “championship bout” in Australia. Nunes, Invitica champ Evinger, or Cyborg are the only fights I’ll pay to see in women’s 135…. or a Sara McCann rematch. She deserved an instant rematch imho.
