Gina Carano To Meet With Dana White And Lorenzo Fertitta
Brett Okamoto reports on ESPN.com that Dana White hopes to have Gina Carano under contract with the UFC by the end of next week.
Okamoto quotes Dana saying: “One down, one to go,” White said. “I’m going to meet with Gina next week and get that f—ing thing done. Next week, man.
“It’s just a matter of me and Lorenzo going to jump on a plane to Los Angeles, get in a room with her and her lawyer and get this thing done.”

While Ronda Rousey wants no part of fighting Cris Cyborg at 145lbs, the natural fighting weight for both women, Rousey has said she will accommodate Gina Carano and move up to 145lbs to fight her.
Of course if Ronda is willing to fight Gina at 145 she should also be willing to fight Cris Cyborg at 145. Cyborg is universally considered the best pound for pound female MMA fighter in the World.
Obviously any of these 145 fights would be non-title fights because the UFC does not have a 145lb weight division for women yet.
It will be interesting to learn about Gina’s contract terms should she sign with the UFC because Carano has a long history of difficulty and failure making weight at 145lbs.
It doesn’t seem plausible Carano would agree to fight at 135lbs, a weight she has never even come close to reaching.
Will the UFC announce a new 145lb division for women as they trumpet Gina Carano’s signing? Although unlikely, it would be a wise move.
Cris Cyborg and many other skilled 145lb female fighters could quickly follow Gina and make the 145lb division for women one of the most exciting in MMA.
