Cris Cyborg Winning Trash Talk Battle With Ronda Rousey
Recently Ronda Rousey’s Mother, AnnMaria De Mars, said this on Submission Radio:
“Oh, Ronda will break her arm,” De Mars said. “I can say that right now. I’ll tell you two things: Ronda will break her arm, and Ronda will not go up in weight.” She went on to question Cyborg’s record, her inability to make weight and even brought up her failed drug test, saying: “I almost feel like that’s sort of like when you get a DUI. That’s probably not the only time you were driving drunk.”
These were the latest insults hurled at Cris Cyborg from the Rousey camp. However more and more MMA fans are recognizing that Rousey and her supporters spew this nonsense in the context that Ronda is the one ducking a fight with Cris Cyborg.

I missed weight 1 time in 10 years. I don’t know where she read this but I can guarantee I make 140lbs.
Cat Zingano was world Champion 125 before going up in weight to test herself, same thing Pacquiao is doing against Mayweather.
Honda would rather fight girls she know she can beat in the first round because the last time she challenge herself she only take home a Bronze medal.
Maybe we can ask Dana to give the loser of our fight a medal so she feel better about herself.

Cris Cyborg is definitely the better trash talker. Ronda Rousey’s trash talk consists of boring, tired, reckless and dishonest insults plus she often has to rely on her Mom and Dana White to hurl outrageous barbs on her behalf. When Ronda stops ducking Cris and realizes she has to fight her at 145 lbs, MMA fans will learn who is the better MMA fighter.
Cyborg has made it clear several times that she doesn’t care about Rousey’s 135 lb belt. She just wants what MMA fans deserve, a fair fight at 145 lbs (natural weight division for both).
Both are large women. In the past Ronda Rousey’s weight when not training has ballooned to almost 180 lbs. Those who believe her walking around weight is 155 lbs are believing a falsehood spread by Ronda (just another excuse to duck Cris at 145 lbs).
Ronda is naturally a large woman. She competed in Judo at @154lbs and had to cut a lot of weight to make 154. Half of her MMA fights (pro and amateur) have been contested at 145lbs and higher, once at a 147lbs catch weight and another time at 150lbs. She made a huge weight cut to get to 150lbs.
Out of 14 MMA fights Ronda has only fought 6 women at 135lbs (Miesha Tate twice). Her natural MMA weight class is 145lbs. Cris Cyborg is also a large woman but at 175lbs her body fat percentage is significantly lower than Rousey’s. When at 175lbs Rousey’s body fat is much, much higher. For Cyborg to cut 40 lbs when starting so lean is insane. If she made 135 she would be emaciated and sub-par.
They should fight at 145lbs for Cyborg’s Invicta FC Featherweight Belt, co-promoted by UFC and Invicta FC. Ronda can keep her 135 belt. Fans get to see these two great athletes fight each other at their best…145lbs, the weight Ronda offered to Gina Carano and Laila Ali.
Another possibility is to have the fight at 145lbs under the UFC banner. Again Ronda can keep her 135lb belt if she defeats Bethe Correia August 1. Cyborg and Rousey are both under contract with the UFC. If Ronda whines about that make it a 140lb catch weight (with a 1 pound allowance).
Cris Cyborg’s dig at Rousey’s Olympic bronze medal is interesting and a sensitive subject for Ronda. Now I think it’s a great achievement but there is no question Ronda has inflated her “mastery of the Olympics”. Many casual fans mistakenly believe she won a Gold medal and Ronda has done little to correct this misperception. Very recently she was quoted that she could “master the Olympics again” and win a Gold medal in judo if she wanted to. The implication in that recent article (and several previous interviews) is that she already won Olympic Gold.
However the truth is in her first Olympics 2004 she lost very early and washed out quickly. She did better in 2008 but the fact is she lost in the quarterfinals.
Because the tournament structure was governed by repechage rules, losers have an opportunity for a shot at 4th place (which is also awarded a Bronze medal). To her credit Rousey fought on and earned 4th place in the 2008 Women’s Olympic Judo 70kg. Still a great achievement but three other women, Masae Ueno, Anaysi Hernández and Edith Bosch fared better than Ronda Rousey in the 2008 Women’s Olympic Judo 70kg.
All official results list Rousey 4th. Those who try to say it was a “tie” for 3rd are wrong and fail to recognize that Edith Bosch (3rd place) defeated Rousey (4th place) in the quarterfinals.
I feel it’s important to explain this because Ronda Rousey’s recent comments (and in several other interviews) imply that she won a Gold medal while “mastering the Olympics” and she boasts she would win Gold “again” in the next Olympics if she wanted to. In my opinion that is disrespectful to Masae Ueno, Anaysi Hernández and Edith Bosch who did better than her in 2008 and discourteous to the world’s current top female judokas who would defeat her today.
