Read Chuck Mindenhall’s excellent article on MMAFighting.com for an informative, insightful background report on the Ronda Rousey vs. Sara McMann UFC 170 face off.
Before the Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate 2 bout at UFC 168 I wrote my opinion of a blueprint on How To Beat Ronda Rousey. That article applies to any fighter scheduled to take on Ronda Rousey, including Sara McMann.
I admire and respect Miesha Tate. She is a former Champion and one of the best female MMA fighters in the world. She fought Rousey into the third round with a gritty, courageous performance.
Miesha did not adopt my strategies to beat Ronda Rousey, choosing instead to go with a plan she felt best suited her. I don’t fault her at all because she knows what works for her and she is far more knowledgeable about mixed martial arts than I am.
Ironically Ronda Rousey did follow my advice. In the article How To Beat Ronda Rousey, I was critical of Rousey’s draconian training and weight cutting diet. I mentioned how MMA nutritionist Mike Dolce felt Ronda was making significant, serious errors with her diet.
With only a few weeks left in her training for Rousey vs. Tate 2, Ronda hired Mike Dolce! He helped her reach a healthy 135lbs.
I feel Sara McMann and any future Ronda Rousey opponent can benefit from my fight design linked to above. However, I will add this important instructional video made by Ronda Rousey’s former judo coach and four-time Olympian Jimmy Pedro with her former teammate and Olympian Travis Stevens.
